Pitman Training Guildford announces Government Funded Training status - March 2009

We are pleased to announce that Pitman Training Guildford has been given approval by the LSC to deliver funded courses such as those offered by Train to Gain. This means that employees may benefit from 100% funded training courses in IT and Business Administration for example. Learning Skills Council announces that "Brits look to training as going gets tough" - December 2008

The Learning Skills Council (LSC) has just released a report saying that nearly half the country’s workforce say the current economic climate has made them think about training or learning a new skill. The survey identifies the current economic problems to be the number one cause of insecurity in the workplace (42 per cent); it also demonstrates that the current situation is inspiring many people to rethink their career paths in a positive way, with over three quarters of respondents (77 per cent) recognising the room for improvement in their skill levels and indicating a willingness to seek advice about improving their skill base. Two thirds of workers actually stated they felt learning a new skill would help make them feel happier and more secure in their jobs (62 per cent). Pitman Training Guildford introduces new course finance option - August 2008

Investing in training can be a major financial commitment. Even though the benefits in terms of increased salary and career progression are significant it can stop someone from doing a course that can literally change their lives. For this reason we can now offer a 'study now, pay later' finance option where students can study for their diploma and, depending on when they complete it, pay for it at a later date. One of our current students has just recorded a typing speed of 101 words per minute in her typing test. To give you an idea of how fast this is, it equates to more than 8 keystrokes a second. But that's not all - her accuracy was 100%! She thinks she can go even faster with a little more practice! This proves that our training courses really work.

Early December marked the completion of diploma courses for a number of our students. To commemorate the event and also our move into our new office, we held a farewell party to wish them well on their way.

Many of the students have already found full-time or part-time positions. The others are busy with interviews for positions where they can use their comprehensive IT and business skills.

November 2007 - Pitman Training Guildford moves into its new Training Centre

In November 2007 Pitman Training moved into its new location on the Portsmouth Road in Guildford. Portsmouth House is a comfortable and modern building that has been refurbished to support the training and student needs of the company. It is conveniently sited at the bottom of the High Street in Guildford and a short walking distance to all the main shopping car parks, bus station and railway station. Book-Keeping Level 2- A Study Guide

Pitman Training Guildford now offers Book-keeping Level 2 – A Study Guide. It is a 12 hour course designed to prepare those who have studied the 5 Pitman Training manual book-keeping courses for the 2 unit examinations forming part of the IAB Level 2 Certificate in Book-keeping qualification. Work-related scenarios are used in order to complete tasks encompassing a variety of book-keeping topics, from entering transactions into books of prime entry, through to using the double entry book-keeping system.

Dreamweaver 8

Dreamweaver 8 is a 16 hour course designed to teach users how to work with this industry-standard web design package to create exciting websites. The course is designed for those with some familiarity with HTML. The website created can be retained as a template once the course has been completed.
